September 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on September 13th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Instead of the usual format, the September meeting is a “Come and See” for anyone who is considering inquiring for admission in the coming year. It is an opportunity to meet members of the Chapter, ask questions and learn about the process of Inquiry that begins in October and ends potentially with admission next August.

We will pray Evening Prayer 1 for the Exaltation of the Cross in the meeting room instead of in the Church. After that we will have the Chapter elections at which all admitted members are expected to be present.

Rites of Admission 2025

Fr Juan Torres O.P. is presiding over the Rites of admission, temporary promise and perpetual promise for the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Chapter on Aug 23, the Memorial of St Rose of Lima, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Milam St in Houston at 9:30AM. There will be a reception from 11AM to 100 PM in the Parish Hall. The chapter welcomes all who wish to celebrate with us.

August 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on August 9th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be on the Rights and Responsibilities as Lay Dominicans. Inquirers will discuss Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 on contemplative prayer and devotion to Mary as Pillars of Dominican life. Candidates will continue to discuss St Thomas Aquinas chapters 5-8. Promised will have Lectio Divina or discuss Chapters 1-2 of Joseph Pieper’s Liesure the Basis of Culture.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary time.. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

July 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on July 12th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be on the Rights of Workers and the Dignity of Work.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 9 on Dominican art. Candidates will continue to discuss St Thomas Aquinas. Promised will discuss My Way of Life pages 553-604 or the chapters 36-41 of The Church and the Land by Vincent McNabb O.P. (free online version).

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the15th Sunday in Ordinary time.. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

June 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on June 14th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be a talk on Christian mysticism by Fr Joseph Paul.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 8 on Truth as a pillar of Dominican life. Candidates will discuss Marshall Taylor on St Thomas Aquinas. Promised will discuss My Way of Life pages 475-551 or the chapters 30-35 of The Church and the Land by Vincent McNabb O.P. (free online version). Discussion of the Church and the Land will also include a discussion of the Summa Theologica, Part 3, Q 40, Art 3.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

May 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on May 10th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be Lectio Divina on the readings for the Fourth Sunday of Easter: Acts 13:14, 43-52, Revelation 7:9, 14b-17 and John 10:27-30.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 7 on the Dominican Soul. Candidates will discuss chapter 3 of the book about St Catherine of Sienna. Promised will discuss the chapters 20-29 of The Church and the Land by Vincent McNabb O.P. (free online version) or My Way of Life pages 417-473.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the Dead for Pope Francis. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

March 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on March 8th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be Lectio Divina on the readings for the first Saturday of Lent on the Care of Creation Sirach17:1-15 and Mark 10:13-16.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 5 on the purpose of the Dominican Laity. Candidates will discuss chapters 1 of the book about St Catherine of Sienna. Promised will discuss the chapters 4-9 of The Church and the Land by Vincent McNabb O.P. (free online version) or My Way of Life pages 299-363.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the 1st Sunday of Lent. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

January 2025 Meeting

Our next meeting is at 2pm on January 11th at Holy Rosary Religious Ed Building, Milam St in Houston.

Our group discussion will be lead by Sister Teresa Phuong OP on the Community Aspect of Dominican Life, its Blessings and Challenges.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 3 on the history of the Dominican Laity. Candidates will discuss chapters 1-10 of the book about St Martin de Porres. Promised will discuss the last three articles under Question 83 in Part 3 of the Summa Theologica on the ministers of the Holy Eucharist or My Way of Life pages 188-240.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the Baptism of the Lord. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

December 2024 Meeting

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 2 on community as a pillar of Dominican life. Candidates will discuss chapters 8-11 of the book about St Catherine of Sienna. Promised will discuss the articles under Question 83 in Part 3 of the Summa Theologica on the ministers of the Holy Eucharist or My Way of Life,Pt. 1, Ch 4-7, pages 121-186.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer for the 3rd Sunday of Advent. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.

November 2024 Meeting

Our group discussion will be on the encyclical Evangelium Vitae by Pope John Paul II on the sanctity of human life.

Inquirers will discuss Chapter 1 on the place of study in the ideal of St Dominic. Candidates will discuss the next chapter of the book about St Catherine of Sienna. Promised will continue the 6th-10th articles under Question 82 in Part 3 of the Summa Theologica on the ministers of the Holy Eucharist.

We will end the meeting by heading across the street to pray Evening Prayer of Office of the Dead especially for Dr. Thomas Brzustowicz OP and Melvin Phipps. We will pray in the Church beginning promptly at 4:15 in order to be finished for the beginning of the Rosary at 4:35.
